“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV).
These verses emphasize that we are saved by grace through faith, and not by our own efforts.
This is a powerful reminder that salvation is a free gift from God, not something we can earn through good works.
Salvation is a special gift from God the Father, given to us through his son, Jesus Christ.
One of the most popular verses of the Bible is John 3:16. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Salvation is given unto us out of God’s love. It is a free gift. We did not merit it. We did not work for it, we did not pay for it. God chose to give it to us because of his great love and mercy towards us.
There is nothing we can do to deserve or earn his grace and mercy. We cannot purchase it no matter how much money or wealth we acquire on this earth. None of us can buy salvation for our souls.
God the Father out of the goodness of his heart and his love for us, subjected his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to such a horrible death on the cross, to save us from sin and eternal damnation.
Jesus Christ on his part, because of the love he has for the father and for us, obeyed the father to go through such pain and sufferings for our sakes.
The Bible tells us in Romans 5:8, that while we were yet sinners, God demonstrated his love for us by allowing his only begotten Son to die a shameful death on the cross.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NKJV).
So, we did not deserve it. It was not given because of our holiness and righteousness, nor because of our hard work, after all, we were still wallowing in sin when Jesus Christ died for us. It is an unmerited favor from God.
That is why, there is no other way of salvation except through Jesus Christ, and there is no other means to the father except through Jesus Christ.
How could there possibly be any other way other than through Jesus Christ?
When it was Jesus Christ himself who paid the ultimate price for our sins and gave us victory over the enemy.
Moreover, Jesus Christ himself said in John 14:6, “……I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
It is therefore erroneous and deceptive for anyone to say that there are many ways to the father or to heaven besides through Jesus.
Those people may be talking about a different heaven altogether and not the heaven written about in the Bible.
We are saved by God’s unmerited favor, therefore none of us can boast or take credit for their salvation.
This basic truth highlights the importance of faith in Jesus Christ and the immense power of God’s grace.
Salvation is purely by the grace of God. It is because of the love of the father. None of us can boast about anything in this life. Whether you are such a diligent worker and you think you made it all by yourself or through your efforts. Remember, it is God who gave you life, health and strength to be able to function.
Without God we are nothing and can do nothing.
The key points are, we are saved by grace. Our salvation is from God, and it is free. We have no power to save ourselves. Our best efforts cannot save us.
Learn to rest in God’s grace and do not attempt to earn the salvation which God has already given you for free.
Open your heart to Jesus Christ today, if you have not done so already. Receive him as your Lord and Savior and he will transform your life, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
If and when you fall into sin, repent immediately, ask God for forgiveness and learn to forgive yourself and receive God’s forgiveness.
Resist the devil and avoid every appearance of evil. Do not give any opportunity to the enemy to wreak havoc in your life. “…Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12)
Learn to walk by faith and not by sight according to 2 Corinthians 5:7.
Remember, your salvation is free, through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of calvary, you cannot earn it by good works, only through trust and total surrender to God almighty through Jesus Christ.
To God be all the glory in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
