“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24 KJV).
When we understand our true purpose of being on earth and what awaits us after this life, no one will plead with us to do the right thing and obey God in all things.
The realization that we are only pilgrims on earth and we are on a journey, and one day the journey will end and we will all give account to our Maker, how we journeyed on earth, should be enough to put the reverential fear of God upon us. Then we will learn to set our priorities right.
In 1st Corinthians 2, we are told, “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, Neither have entered into the heart of man, The things which God hath prepared for them that love him.“
(1 Cor 2:9 KJV).
Can you imagine what the Father is preparing for his beloved children?
Jesus Christ said he was going to prepare a place for us and after he will come and take us.
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:2-3 KJV).
This is a promise that should have us excited and looking forward to, with joyful expectations that after all the pain and sufferings of this life, we will go to the Father to rest for eternity.
Eternity means forever and ever.
Here on earth we spend a few years.
Some live for a few hours, days, weeks, months, or years but nobody lives forever on earth.
After death the soul lives for eternity either in heaven or hell. It is important to decide while you are still alive on this earth where you will spend eternity. Is it in heaven or in hell?
Whether one believes that heaven and hell exist or not will not change the fate of a wrong decision made.
It is important to seek God and know the truth before it is too late.
He said in his word, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13 KJV).
Seek the Lord today with all your heart.
He will surely reveal himself to you. God bless you.
