Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:4-5 KJV)
It is natural that every fruit bearing branch must be attached to the tree which is the source of its nourishment in order to produce fruits.
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior said he is the vine and we, his followers are the branches. Therefore as branches we must abide in him in order to be fruitful. We must be attached to Jesus Christ in order to receive nourishment for our souls and body. Without him we cannot achieve anything.
It does not matter how strong we may seem to be in ourselves, as believers in Christ Jesus, we need him in our lives. We need his grace, mercy, forgiveness, anointing, and strength to survive and succeed in this life. We need him in order to enter into eternal rest in heaven when we depart this life. It is not by power nor is it by might but by the spirit of the living God. (Zechariah 4:6 KJV).
Everything we need can be found in Jesus Christ. The ability to live is in him. The grace and the strength to get out of bed in the morning and go about our daily activities can only be found in him.
Some people work so hard but achieve nothing, some are productive but the fruits they are producing are rotten. The ability to bear good fruit can only be found in Jesus Christ.
How do we abide in Christ?
Through prayer and the study of his Word in the holy scriptures. When we study, we receive interpretation and understanding from the holy spirit and the word of God transforms our lives and our minds are renewed. (Romans 12:2).
As we study the Bible we draw closer to God and gain insight into his heart and understand him better. He consequently reveals to us, his plan and purpose for our lives and how to move forward.
It is a great privilege to be a child of God and we must live the life worthy of heaven while here on earth.
It is because of God’s love and mercy that he chose us to be called his children.
Jesus Christ is our hope, our refuge, our provider, our rock of salvation, our peace, our joy, and our strength. He is our all in all. We must abide in him to succeed.
Prayer
Heavenly father, help us to take delight in studying your holy Word and abiding in your son Jesus Christ as true branches from today onwards in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen!
