In the book of Zechariah 2:5, the Lord declared,
“For I,’ says the Lord, ‘will be a wall of fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’ ”
This means divine protection.
The Lord said that he will be a wall of fire around his people. Instead of having physical walls, God’s divine protection will surround His people. His presence will become their defense and honor.
In verse 8, he said, whoever touches his people, touches the apple of His eye.
“For thus says the Lord of hosts: “He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.”
The “apple of His eye” means precious and protected. God defends His people fiercely; any attack on them is an attack on Him. This shows God’s zeal for His people.
These promises, originally meant for Israel, extend to all believers in Jesus Christ today.
We are the apple of God’s eye. He said he will protect us, he will defend us, and he will punish those who offend us or try to hurt us.
Having these promises from our almighty and loving father, we are encouraged to rejoice in God’s presence, trust him, obey and worship him sincerely, in spirit and in truth.
We need not be afraid of the enemy because God is clearly more powerful than the devil.
God wants you to trust him as your wall of fire. Cast all your fears and anxiety upon him and walk in His protection.
Surrender your life and plans completely to him and he will deliver you from every stronghold and captivity.
God desires to dwell with you.
