“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”Matthew 5:3
Jesus Christ began his sermon on the mount by teaching that true blessing starts with humility. Being “poor in spirit” means recognizing our need for God. It is admitting that we cannot navigate life successfully without His wisdom, grace, and strength.
While the world tells us, “Be self-sufficient.”
Jesus says, “Recognize your need for God.”
The moment you stop pretending you have it all together is the moment God begins to work deeply in your life.
Humility is not weakness, it is the doorway to God’s Kingdom.
Reflect today, in which area you have been relying on your own strength instead of God’s.
Prayer. Heavenly Father, help us remain humble before You. Teach us to depend on Your wisdom instead of our own understanding. Fill our hearts with deeper awareness of your presence and guide us through the power of your Holy Spirit in Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
